SCT Partnership AFS V.6

It is still OK to do your Upgrade from Cert IV TAE40110 to Cert IV TAE40116!

You can become fully compliant with the new Trainer and Assessor Credential Requirements!

Possession of the Cert IV TAE40110 plus doing the Southern Cross Training Upgrade Course will give you

the NEW Certificate IV TAE40116 in Training and Assessment!

The Skills Ministers agreed that Trainers and Assessors who do not hold the relevant new units, would have until July 1 2019 to meet the new credential requirements

This means your TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment was still sufficient until then - provided you obtained the two additional core units - if you wanted to continue using the TAE40110 to deliver and/or assess nationally recognised training

These 2 core units are:

  • TAELLN411/ TAELLN401A Address Adult Language, Literacy & Numeracy
  • TAEASS502/ TAEASS502A/ TAEASS502B Design & Develop Assessment Tools

So, now is the time to Upgrade !J!

What are the entry requirements to the Upgrade?

1. You must be currently training i.e. during the last 1 - 2 years. Ideally you would have access to a current or recent employer or supervisor who can confirm to your professional experience. We will email you our Training Currency Toolkit, to be filled in and sent back to us

2. Must hold the superseded TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.- please send in a Certified copy, by JP or similar

3. Ability to demonstrate how you have maintained professional development since being awarded the TAE40110.  This can be provided via a resume or reference.- in addition to ongoing employment as a trainer. Evidence can include attendance at conferences, seminars & webinars, membership of relevant professional bodies e.g. VELG etc.

4. Ability to demonstrate that you have the skills and vocational experience in the field that you wish to train / assess in.  For example, to teach 'business' qualifications you'll need a business qualification to at least the level you wish to teach

How does the TAE40116 differ from the TAE40110?

1. The Unit TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools (also TAEASS502A or TAEASS502B) and TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills (also TAELLN401A) have been added as new core (mandatory) units

2. The Unit TAEASS401B is superseded by TAEASS401 Plan assessment activities and processes. These units are not equivalent, and the new unit requires evidence of candidates having planned and organised 5 assessments, including 2 RPL assessments

3. The Unit TAEASS403B is superseded by TAEASS403 Participate in assessment validation.  These are not equivalent, and the new unit requires participation in 3 validation sessions

I already have TAEASS502 – Why do I have do more assessment units in the Upgrade course?

The new Unit TAEASS401 Plan assessment activities and processes requires evidence of candidates having planned and organised 5 assessments, including 2 RPL assessments, whereas TAEASS502 only requires the “ ….developing of at least three assessment tools …”, among other things
